Communication Activities: Open-Xchange is a free software/open source company which adopts a user-centric business model based on openness, standards compliance, and privacy protection. The company routinely promotes these values and models and participates in Internet conferences, online discussions and public activities, including industry fairs, free software community gatherings, standardisation organisations and policy forums.
Open-Xchange is part of a network of companies and NGOs advocating for openness and interoperability in Internet services. We are among the founders of the Coalition for Competitive Digital Markets (competitivedigitalmarkets.eu) which promotes mandatory provisions around these topics in European regulation. As part of this effort and/or individually, we released whitepapers, position papers and amendment proposals, which were used in stakeholder discussions on this legislative effort.
Open-Xchange is active in discussions on DNS policies, more specifically on DNS resolution and the use of DNS as a content access control and security mechanism. We released a whitepaper on DNS-over-HTTPS and DNS encryption which was widely circulated in Brussels.
The ID4me project (id4me.org) is an industry cooperation to provide an online identity and single sign-on platform in a privacy-friendly and user-centric way, allowing any company in Europe and elsewhere to provide Internet-scale credentials similarly to what the American OTTs are doing.
